Eri silk function that has benefit as textile apparel.

Eri Silkworm comes from the caterpillar found in many parts of Thailand. Eri Silkworm is the only completely domesticated silkworm. Eri Silk moth is born as a silkworm. It spins open-ended cocoons as it morphs into beautiful moths. Eri Silkworm are fed using cassava leaves. After they are fed by cassava leaves. The caterpillar has a small spinneret on its lip, through which the silk emerges.

Cassava (also called tapioca), one of Thailand?s top agricultural products.Cassava The Third-largest source of food carbohydrate in the tropical countries, after riceandmaize.Cassavaisamajor staple food in the developing world, providing a basic diet for over half a billion people. It isone of the most drought-tolerant crops, capable of growing on marginal soils.

The cassava root is long and tapered, with a firm, homogeneous flesh encased in a detachable rind, about 1 mm thick, rough and brown on the outside. The Cassava Root is used to process animal feed as well as in the ethanol industry.

Natural Functionals of Eri Silk

In order to protect themselves against external effects, the fiber comes with various natural functions.By Using Natural Fiber with nano-level porous structure, KONGKIAT has both functionality and unique texture without particularly providing functional treatment.

Warmth Retaining

Wri silk fiber has many nano-porous that traps the air inside fiber. Therefore, it performs as an insulator keeping heat inside during the winter and still provide the cooliness during the summer time.

Q-MAX ( Cool Touch Properties)

Instant cool feeling is to measure the maximum heat loss at a particular moment as a result, it stimulates the cool feeling for skin when contact with the fabric.

UV Blocking function

The cocoon needs to stay inside the safe place but the cocoon is exposed to the environment directly under the sun. Therefore, the cocoon should be able to protect the pupae inside from UV light during the daytime. The fiber of the cocoon works as the shield to reduce the transmission of only the lowest UV ray to the pupae.

There is also belief that the silkworm fiber that covers its cocoon has the natural function which is deodorization. This particular function protects the silkworm from its natural enemies such as ants and other kinds of inspects. These hunters disregard the non-stimulate cocoon. Approved by the deodorization test report, the ERI SILK fiber has a deodorization function which is unique to the silk only.

Deensity : Light weight function

The lightweight feature of ERI silk is one the most benefit from nature causing the extraordinary function due to its own nano-parasites and cavities inside the microscopic level of the fiber itself. This advantage helps fiber contain and collect some air inside along with the super light weight since it has very low density compared to other kinds of fiber.

Natural Anti-Bacterial

The anti-bacterial testing report provides a quantitative procedure to evaluate the degree of antibacterial activity for each material. Assessment of antibacterial finishes on textile materials is determined by the degree of antibacterial activity intended in the use of such materials.
